Driver flees police at high speed in Windsor Locks

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A driver fled from police at high speed early Saturday morning after an officer found him apparently passed out in a vehicle at a McDonald’s restaurant.

A Windsor Locks police officer was conducting a business check at the McDonald’s at 195 Ella Grasso Turnpike at 2:50 a.m. Oct. 18 when he noticed a male adult seated in a parked vehicle who appeared to be passed out, according to police.

Police said the man may have been under the influence of narcotics.

A female exited the restaurant and yelled at the driver that police were there, according to the report.

The male suddenly awoke and did not listen to officer commands, police said.

The man frantically accelerated his vehicle and drove several laps around the building at a high rate of speed, almost striking the officer, according to police.

The vehicle evaded police after operating dangerously at a high rate of speed, police said.

Information was given to surrounding towns.
