WOLCOTT, NY — A 67-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into unpaid lottery ticket purchases at a local establishment.
David M. Miller, of Wolcott, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, according to New York State Police.
The investigation by the Troop E Major Crimes Unit determined that on Sept. 27, Miller obtained New York State Quick Draw lottery tickets at the Wolcott Elks Lodge without rendering payment while working at the establishment.
Over a period of several hours, Miller generated approximately $9,498 in lottery ticket purchases using the bar’s electronic terminal, police said.
While the tickets produced approximately $4,164 in winnings, the remaining $5,334 balance was never paid, according to police.
Miller was arrested on Oct. 31.
He was transported to Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment processing, where he was released pending further court proceedings.
The case is being prosecuted by the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office.
