BELMONT, NY — A man was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly firing a shotgun at an occupied residence following a domestic dispute.
Robert J. Deahn, 36, of Olean, was taken into custody and charged with menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, three counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
State Police from SP Amity responded to Genesee Street in the village of Belmont at 4:16 a.m. for a reported domestic dispute.
An investigation determined that Deahn unexpectedly arrived at the residence and brandished a knife at a victim before leaving.
Deahn returned and fired one round from a firearm at the residence from the front yard, according to police.
The residence was occupied by multiple victims, including two children.
Troopers located Deahn on West Water Street in the town of Friendship and conducted a high-risk traffic stop.
Deahn was taken into custody without incident.
Troopers recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, still warm to the touch with one spent casing in the chamber, as well as the knife allegedly used to menace the victims.
Deahn was processed at SP Amity and transported to the Allegany County Jail pending centralized arraignment.
