Driver critically injured after crash into homes in Berkshire

BERKSHIRE, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in which a driver struck two homes and sustained critical injuries.

Police were notified at 1:07 p.m. Friday of the crash near 3306 Vermont Route 105.

Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling east on Vermont Route 105 when it crossed into the oncoming lane, struck the porch of a residence, continued through a lawn and struck a second home before coming to rest on the side of the residence.

The operator was identified as Paul Robitaille, 61, of Berkshire.

Robitaille was initially transported to Northwestern Medical Center and then transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue was totaled in the crash.

Roads were wet and it was raining at the time of the crash.

Police were assisted by the Berkshire Fire Department, Enosburgh Fire Department, Enosburgh Ambulance and Richford Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation.
