Man arrested on drug trafficking charge in Biddeford

BIDDEFORD, ME — A 28-year-old man was arrested on aggravated drug trafficking charges following an early morning raid on an encampment near a high school.

Brandon Gelsomini, of Biddeford, was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and violation of bail conditions.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents and Biddeford police executed a search warrant at approximately 7 a.m. on Oct. 29 at Gelsomini’s tent adjacent to railroad tracks along James Street.

Authorities had received reports from the community over the past two months about illicit drug sales from the encampment, which is located near Biddeford High School.

The search resulted in the seizure of 120 grams of fentanyl, 21 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, 5 grams of cocaine base, a loaded shotgun and approximately $7,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $14,000.

Gelsomini was taken into custody on an unrelated arrest warrant and is being held without bail at York County Jail.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 31.

Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, York County Sheriff’s Department, Saco Police, Old Orchard Police, Biddeford Fire Department and Biddeford Code Enforcement assisted in executing the search warrant.
