HOLYOKE, MA — Holyoke police and federal drug agents arrested a man and seized heroin and crack-cocaine Tuesday afternoon.
Police Chief Brian Keenan announced members of the Holyoke Police Narcotics Bureau working with the Drug Enforcement Administration Springfield Resident Office made the arrest around 12:45 p.m.
Investigators were focusing on known problem areas where narcotics distribution was suspected.
Officers observed suspected drug activity in the area of Spring Street and Clemente Street.
Investigators approached a subject, later identified as Matthew Oakes, and located suspected crack-cocaine, heroin and cash.
Oakes was placed under arrest.
Investigators seized approximately 28 capsules of crack-cocaine, 53 bags of heroin and $137 in cash.
Matthew Oakes, 38, of Holyoke is charged with possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug, possession of a Class A drug and possession of a Class B drug.
