GROVELAND, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly using an excavator to damage a home and threaten family members on Oct. 27.
Troopers and Bureau of Criminal Investigation members from SP Geneseo responded to a residence on Upper Bean Hill Road at approximately 3:33 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute and criminal mischief in progress.
The investigation determined that Matthew P. Partridge, 37, of Nunda, operated a large excavator belonging to the family business and drove it toward the residence occupied by a 62-year-old woman and her 11-year-old male relative.
Partridge caused extensive damage to the home, including driving through the side of the residence and destroying a portion of the wrap-around porch, police said.
During the incident, Partridge threatened the female occupant and continued to damage property as she fled.
The woman contacted a 64-year-old male family member, who arrived at the residence in his 2013 Chevrolet 3500 truck.
Upon arrival, the truck was struck multiple times by the excavator.
When the man exited the vehicle, a brief physical altercation occurred before Partridge fled the scene.
Responding troopers and BCI members secured the scene and began an investigation.
Partridge was later located at his mother’s residence, where members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded and took him into custody.
Partridge was charged with three counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, two counts of criminal mischief in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
Partridge was arraigned in the Livingston County CAP and released.
