SHEFFIELD, MA — The Sheffield Police Department received a call on its nonemergency line reporting someone had threatened to shoot up Berkshire School.
The call came in at approximately 1:29 p.m. Monday.
The Sheffield Police Department requested mutual aid assistance from the Great Barrington Police Department, Egremont Police Department, New Marlborough Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.
Berkshire School was placed into a lockdown immediately following the reported threat.
Officers worked together to perform a full and thorough sweep of the school campus.
No threats were located.
The evidence so far strongly suggests that this was a swatting incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
