Man arrested on criminal mischief charge in Utica

UTICA, NY — A Utica man was arrested following an incident at the Oneida County Office Building on Oct. 27.

Paul Vannort II, 33, of Utica, was leaving a waiting room on the first floor of the building, located at 800 Park Ave., at about 10:19 a.m. when he punched a wall with a closed fist, causing a fist-sized hole in the wall, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Oneida County Office Building immediately took Vannort into custody.

Vannort was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.

He was processed and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Utica City Court at a later date.

Deputies learned that Vannort was on state parole, and parole officials were notified.

A violation of parole warrant was sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

Vannort was transported to the Oneida County Correctional Facility and turned over to correctional officers.

He is currently being held on the violation of parole warrant.
