CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A 28-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he was driving the wrong way on Interstate 81.
Dakota W. Schreiner, of Marathon, was stopped at 1 a.m. Oct. 19 after officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the northbound lane of Interstate 81.
Police determined Schreiner was operating the vehicle while intoxicated and that his driver’s license was revoked.
Schreiner was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, as well as felony counts of driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more.
He also faces misdemeanor reckless driving charges and infractions including unlicensed operator, driving the wrong direction on a one-way street, no stopping/standing/parking on highway, and inadequate muffler.
Schreiner was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 a.m. Oct. 19 and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court at 11 a.m. Oct. 22.
