FALL RIVER, MA — A stabbing incident on Sunday resulted in charges against two men following a dispute over alleged theft.
Officers responded to the 300 block of North Main Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. for reports of a male suffering from multiple stab wounds inside a vehicle with several flat tires.
The victim, Vincent Valois, 34, of Fall River, indicated that the stabbing had occurred at a residence on the 200 block of Pine Street.
Valois was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
Officers and detectives responded to the Pine Street address, where they collected evidence and obtained statements from involved parties and witnesses.
Through the investigation, it was determined that Valois drove to and entered an apartment belonging to William Paiva, 43, of Fall River, despite not being welcome inside.
Statements revealed that after a brief interaction, Valois allegedly stole $100 and several prescription pills from Paiva and attempted to flee.
Paiva then chased Valois outside, where a fight ensued, resulting in Valois being stabbed in the neck and back.
Valois attempted to escape in his vehicle, during which Paiva allegedly slashed multiple tires.
Paiva was arrested Sunday and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious damage to a motor vehicle.
Valois was arrested Monday and charged with breaking and entering daytime for felony, unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
