NEWARK, NJ — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two male suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred on Friday, October 17.
A victim reported that at approximately 5:30 a.m., he was walking in the 100 block of Adams Street when he was approached from behind by three suspects who demanded his cash.
The victim told the suspects that he had no money.
One suspect then struck him on the head with a black handgun.
All three suspects fled southbound on Adams Street.
The victim arrived at the 3rd Precinct to report the incident.
Police canvassing the area were alerted by a concerned citizen that the suspects had attempted to rob another person in the area.
Mahrie Motley, 24, of Newark, was identified as one of the suspects and was taken into custody by police.
Motley faces charges of robbery, conspiracy, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Detectives are seeking help identifying the two other male robbery suspects.
