Woman shot in Otisfield

OTISFIELD, ME — A 28-year-old woman was shot and injured outside a residence on Bell Hill Road on Saturday evening, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

The Oxford County Regional Communication Center received a 911 call at approximately 7:10 p.m. reporting the shooting.

The victim was treated at the scene and transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital by PACE Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries to her hand.

John K. Pottle Jr., 38, of Otisfield, was arrested at the scene after allegedly firing an AR-15 style rifle recklessly in the vicinity of the victim.

Pottle was transported to the Oxford County Jail and charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony, and aggravated assault, a Class B felony.

His bail was set at $5,000.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded along with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police, Oxford and Norway police departments, Otisfield Fire Department and PACE Ambulance service.

The firearm was seized as evidence.
