Fatal crash reported in Preble

PREBLE, NY — A motorist died following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of State Route 281 and Preble Road on Oct. 24.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at approximately 10:45 p.m.

According to authorities, a Ford SUV failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck in the intersection by a Ford pickup truck.

The operator of the SUV, Wallace Grevelding, sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The operator of the pickup truck was transported to Upstate Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The Preble Fire Department, Tully Fire Department, Homer Fire Department, TLC, the Cortland County Coroner’s Office, the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Transportation and Ron’s Towing assisted at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
