Two-vehicle crash on US Route 7 in Shaftsbury

SHAFTSBURY, VT — Vermont State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on US Route 7 near mile marker 18.2 on Oct. 25 at 3:44 p.m.

Police said the crash may have involved a road rage incident.

According to the investigation, a 2009 Honda Pilot operated by Richmond Galusha, 39, of Arlington, passed a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu operated by Anthony Gerry, 20, of Big Rapids, Michigan.

After the pass was completed, Gerry sped up and struck the rear of Galusha’s vehicle before losing control and going off the roadway, police said.

Gerry’s vehicle was totaled in the crash.

Galusha’s vehicle sustained damage to the rear end and front passenger quarter panel.

Neither driver was injured.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

Gerry was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Dec. 15 at 8:30 a.m. for negligent operation and reckless endangerment.
