WEST HAVEN, CT — A man was issued a citation after a police officer caught him dumping furniture and other items along Spring Street near a waterway.
A West Haven officer was patrolling the Spring Street area at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 when he observed a Ford Econoline van parked on the side of the road with its lights off and the rear doors open.
A male was outside the van and appeared to be actively discarding large items near the waterway.
The officer made contact with the operator of the van, who admitted to dumping large pieces of furniture and other items along the roadway.
The individual was issued a citation for $770 for littering in a waterway/public land area and will be responsible for additional fees associated with the removal of the garbage he dumped.
The area is known as a common location for illegal dumping, according to the West Haven Police Department.
