ALBANY, NY — A 16-year-old male has been charged in connection with a homicide that occurred in June on Clinton Avenue.
The teen, whose name will not be released due to his age, was taken into custody early this morning on Colonie Street.
On Monday, June 23 around 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Clinton Avenue near North Lake Avenue for reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old juvenile male with a gunshot wound to his back.
The victim was treated on scene by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries he sustained during the shooting.
The victim’s name will not be released due to his age.
The 16-year-old has been charged with one count of Murder 2nd, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.
He was arraigned this morning in Albany County Criminal Court and remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility.
