HOLYOKE, MA — Holyoke police detectives seized more than six bundles of suspected heroin and fentanyl and arrested one suspect Thursday morning.
At approximately 8 a.m., Detective Michael Everett was conducting an unrelated investigation when he observed suspected drug activity in the area of Main and Spring streets.
Detectives Daniel Reardon, Anthony Brach, James Parnell and Thomas Spafford arrived to assist.
One vehicle involved left the area and detectives conducted a traffic stop.
Twelve bags of heroin and fentanyl were seized from the traffic stop.
Detectives then returned to an alleyway near 305 Main Street and located the suspected drug dealer, identified as Felix Gonzalez, of Holyoke.
Gonzalez dropped a crack pipe, and officers located 52 bags of heroin and fentanyl inside an altered vape pen.
Gonzalez also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Holyoke District Court.
In total, detectives seized 65 bags of heroin, totaling 6.5 bundles, and $145 in cash.
Felix Gonzalez, 40, of Holyoke, is charged with distribution of a Class A drug, possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug, possession of a Class A drug and an arrest warrant.
