TROY, NY — A 51-year-old Troy man has been arrested in connection with a fatal altercation that occurred Wednesday.
Troy Police detectives arrested Donald G. McIntosh Jr. on a charge of second-degree manslaughter following an incident that resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, Troy Police patrol officers and the Troy Fire Department were called to the Speedway Gas Station on Burden Avenue for an adult male in medical distress.
Upon arrival, first responders located a 45-year-old male in cardiac arrest.
He was transported by Troy Fire to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Patrol officers interviewed an individual who was with the victim at the gas station and determined a physical altercation had taken place immediately prior at a storage facility on Campbell Avenue in Troy.
The friend of the victim intended to transport him from the storage facility to the hospital but stopped at the gas station to summon medical professionals as the victim’s condition appeared to worsen.
Other patrol officers responded to the storage facility and identified additional witnesses of the altercation.
Witnesses told police a physical altercation had taken place between two males at the storage facility, involving the victim found at the gas station and another adult male who was no longer at the scene.
The other adult male was located by patrol officers within approximately 20 minutes in the area of Hill Street in Troy.
Police believe the two involved males were known to each other and both romantically involved with a third individual.
McIntosh was arrested, processed and appeared in Troy City Court for arraignment.
He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
