COLCHESTER, NY — An 18-year-old man was arrested on drug-impaired driving and forgery charges following a traffic stop Thursday evening.
Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of Thomas Ippolito of Holtsville.
Deputies patrolling State Highway 30 observed a vehicle with an obstructed rear license plate and illegal tint on the front windshield and front windows, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Ippolito.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested and charged Ippolito with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.
He was also charged with front windshield non-transparent and side wings/side windows non-transparent, both violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Ippolito was additionally charged with one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Ippolito was released on traffic summonses and appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
