Two arrested on drug trafficking charges in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Two people were arrested and multiple drugs were seized following the execution of a search warrant Thursday morning.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment on the 100 block of Massachusetts Avenue.

Brandon Torres, 31, of Springfield, and Alicia Ferrer, 23, of Springfield, were arrested at the scene.

Several children ranging in age from three to twelve were inside the apartment and were released to a family member.

Detectives seized approximately 125 grams of crack cocaine, 65 grams of powder cocaine, 309 pills of suspected fentanyl and 37.2 grams of heroin/fentanyl packaged in 1,862 bags.

Police also recovered $510 in cash, 58 strips of suboxone and a loose round of ammunition.

The investigation into illegal distribution of heroin from the apartment had been ongoing for several months prior to the arrests.

Torres is charged with cocaine trafficking 100-200 grams, fentanyl trafficking more than 10 grams, heroin trafficking 36-100 grams, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession with the intent to distribute a class B drug and reckless endangerment of a child.

Ferrer faces the same charges.
