HAMPTON, NH — A 54-year-old Hampton man has been arrested on multiple felony charges related to the manufacturing and distribution of child sexual abuse images.
Stephen L. Hopping Jr. was taken into custody Oct. 21 when Hampton police executed an arrest warrant at a residence on Towle Avenue.
Police allege Hopping sexually assaulted a minor child who was known to him.
Investigators also allege Hopping manufactured sexual abuse images of a minor child.
Hopping was charged with aggravated felonious sexual assault, felonious sexual assault and manufacture of child sexual abuse images.
He was arrested without incident and held on preventative detention.
Hopping was arraigned at 10th Circuit Hampton District Court on Oct. 22.
A plea of not guilty was entered at the arraignment, and Hopping was released on personal recognizance.
A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 18.
The Hampton Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, Georgetown, Massachusetts, Police Department and the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office.
