Man arrested on fugitive charge in Fair Haven

FAIR HAVEN, VT — A Benson man was arrested on a fugitive warrant at a gas station on Tuesday afternoon.

Waylon Phillips, 24, was taken into custody at approximately 3:23 p.m. at the Citgo gas station.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police-Rutland Barracks were on patrol on Vermont Route 22A in West Haven when they observed Phillips, who had outstanding warrants in New York state, traveling south.

A traffic stop was initiated in the Citgo parking lot in Fair Haven, where troopers confirmed Phillips as the operator.

Phillips was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rutland Barracks for processing.

Phillips was lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail.
