SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT — A Waterbury driver was cited following a collision with an unoccupied traffic control vehicle on Interstate 89 on Oct. 21.
Troopers assigned to the Williston Barracks responded to mile marker 85.2 on the northbound side of I-89 at approximately 2:50 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle collision.
An investigation determined that Grisel Mego Vasquez, 19, of Waterbury, failed to yield for a parked traffic control vehicle in the left-hand lane of the interstate, resulting in a rear-end collision.
Mego Vasquez’s 2015 Volvo XC60 rear-ended the collision barriers at the rear of the vehicle, resulting in significant damage to her vehicle.
The traffic control vehicle, a 2020 Hino truck, sustained moderate rear-end damage to the collision barriers and was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
No injuries were reported.
Mego Vasquez was issued Vermont Civil Violation Complaints for no license, no insurance and driving too fast for conditions or hazards.
Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
The Vermont State Police was assisted on scene by the South Burlington Fire Department and Spillaine’s Towing.
