Man arrested on drug charges in Saratoga Springs

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — A 43-year-old man was arrested on multiple drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 87.

Joseph R. Warren of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and vehicle and traffic law violations.

State Police from the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit stopped Warren’s vehicle at about 6:25 p.m. on Oct. 14 for a vehicle and traffic law violation.

With assistance from State Police K9 “J,” troopers located multiple vacuum-sealed bags containing controlled substances in the vehicle.

Testing determined approximately 16 pounds of the substances contained methylenedioxymethamphetamine, also known as MDMA, and approximately two pounds of the substances contained fluorofentanyl, a type of fentanyl.

Warren was transported to State Police barracks in Saratoga for processing.

He was arraigned at Saratoga Springs City Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.
