VALLEY STREAM, NY — Firefighters extinguished a stove fire that spread to a basement ceiling Tuesday afternoon.
The Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to a fire at a home on Rose Avenue.
Chief Colucci arrived to find fire burning behind a stove.
Responding units also located fire burning in the basement ceiling.
A Signal 10, indicating a working fire, was transmitted, bringing mutual aid from surrounding towns.
The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.
Engine 344 and Ladder 346 were first due under the command of First Assistant Chief Colucci.
After units returned to service, the department responded to a car fire on Rockaway Parkway near Merrick Road.
Engine 344 and Rescue 347 were first due to that incident.
The department also responded to multiple automatic fire alarms during the day.
