GENESEO, NY — Two people were arrested on felony charges following a theft investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports that on Oct. 10, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a business in the Town of Geneseo reporting a larceny.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the business and began an investigation into the alleged theft.

On Oct. 16, Livingston County Sheriff’s Investigator Martin Herkimer arrested Dawson Bergeron, 26, of Arkport, and Shaian Koschara, 27, of Arkport, each on one count of felony grand larceny in the third degree.

It is alleged through the investigation that Bergeron and Koschara stole over $3,000 worth of property from the business.

Bergeron and Koschara were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Village of Dansville Justice Kenney.

The judge released both Bergeron and Koschara on their own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under New York State bail reform.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented the defendants at the court arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified and appeared to represent the people.

Assisting with the investigation were members of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, Geneseo Police Department, and SUNY Geneseo Police Department.
