Man arrested on larceny charges in Malta

MALTA, NY — A 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday on charges of stealing a credit card and cash from a pocketbook taken from a shopping cart.

Seth L. Church, of Ausable Forks, was arrested on a warrant issued by Malta Town Court charging him with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony.

He also faces two counts of petit larceny and conspiracy in the fifth degree, both class A misdemeanors.

Church is accused of stealing a credit card and U.S. currency from a pocketbook that was reportedly taken from a shopping cart in the parking lot of the Market 32 on Kendall Way on Oct. 2.

He is also charged with agreeing with another person to commit a felony.

Church was arraigned before Judge Ellwood A. Sloat Jr. in Malta Town Court.

He was returned to the Clinton County Jail where he is being held on separate charges.
