FALL RIVER, MA — Hunters discovered the remains of two deceased individuals in a state forest during the opening day of pheasant hunting season.
The hunters contacted police after locating a vehicle deep in the woods off Copicut Road this morning.
Police secured the area and notified Major Crimes Division and Crime Scene Unit detectives to respond.
Investigators are continuing to process the scene for evidence.
Based on preliminary findings, all current evidence indicates that there are no outside actors involved, according to the Fall River Police Department.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Fall River Police Major Crimes Division, the Massachusetts State Police CPAC Unit and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
