AUBURN, NY — A Cayuga man has been arrested following a long-term investigation into suspected child sexual exploitation material, state police said.

Douglas L. Baker, 23, of Cayuga, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.

The investigation began in April 2024 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a CyberTipline report to New York State Police indicating suspected child sexual exploitation material being shared through a social media platform, according to police.

The investigation, conducted by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Auburn and the Troop E Computer Crimes Unit, identified Baker as the suspect, police said.

A search warrant was executed at Baker’s residence in July 2024, and multiple electronic devices were seized for forensic analysis, police said.

Following a review of the evidence and consultation with the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, charges were filed against Baker, police said.

Baker was processed at State Police Auburn on Oct. 13 without incident and was arraigned in Cayuga County Jail, police said.
