SOUTHPORT, NY — A 35-year-old man has been arrested on felony charges following the theft of power tools from an enclosed trailer.
Patrick J. Morgan faces charges of burglary in the third degree, grand larceny in the third degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, all class D felonies.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol was dispatched to an address on Hopkins Street on Oct. 6 at 8:06 a.m. for a larceny report.
An enclosed trailer had been broken into and approximately $8,800 worth of Milwaukee power tools, Milwaukee Packout toolboxes and other miscellaneous equipment and materials were stolen.
The Criminal Investigation Division assisted in the investigation.
Investigators learned the stolen property was taken to an address on Holdridge Street in Southport.
A search of that location resulted in the recovery of some of the stolen property.
Investigators also learned that most of the power tools had been transported and sold in the Village of Horseheads.
Investigators determined the location of the power tools that had been sold and recovered a total of 24 Milwaukee power tools, four Milwaukee Packout toolboxes and other miscellaneous tools and equipment from both locations.
All of the property was returned to the owner.
Morgan is currently in the Chemung County Jail on unrelated charges and is scheduled to appear in Southport Court at a later date.
