BOSTON, MA — A Lynn man faces multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police during a scooter and moped enforcement operation Thursday evening.

Officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) conducted a targeted enforcement operation in response to ongoing public safety concerns related to the use of mopeds and scooters, including their connection to motor vehicle violations and violent crimes.

At approximately 6:28 p.m., officers observed an operator of a motorcycle driving recklessly near One Charles Condominiums.

The motorcycle was seen attempting to cut through the driveway without regard for pedestrians or motor vehicles.

The operator then failed to stop at the intersection of Eliot Street and Columbus Avenue.

Officers ordered the operator to stop the motorcycle, and he immediately revved the engine in an attempt to flee.

An officer grabbed the left handlebar to prevent the suspect from fleeing.

The motorcycle fell to the ground and the suspect fled on foot towards Statler Street.

A foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was placed into handcuffs in Statler Park.

Brian Santos-Rosario, 35, of Lynn, is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, fail to stop/yield, resist arrest, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, motor vehicle operator refuse to identify self and no inspection sticker.

During the operation, officers seized three mopeds and issued citations and summonses to three individuals for various violations.
