RICHFORD, VT — Vermont State Police arrested two people on vandalism charges following separate incidents on Main Street on Oct. 5.
Troopers from the St. Albans Barracks responded to a residence on Main Street at 10:51 a.m. for a report of vandalism that the homeowner observed on her security camera.
Police determined that Jeffrey Brown, 34, of Richford, violated active conditions of release by being on and damaging the property of Ashley Laplante, 33, of Richford, and maintaining contact with her through the security camera.
Brown’s conditions of release stem from a case with charges for disorderly conduct, unlawful mischief and aggravated disorderly conduct.
Brown was charged with violation of conditions of release and unlawful mischief and was issued a citation.
Investigation also revealed that earlier the same morning, Laplante wrote a racial slur with barbeque sauce on a vehicle belonging to Brown and Kasey Vincelette, 36, of Richford.
Laplante was charged with unlawful mischief as a hate-motivated crime and was issued a citation.
