WAYNE, NJ — Two suspects were apprehended in a wooded area after fleeing from a vehicle that crashed during a police pursuit early Thursday morning.

Isaiah Jenkins, 20, of East Orange, and Dianzel Jeneo, 18, of East Orange, were taken into custody following a multi-agency search.

At approximately 2:43 a.m. on Oct. 9, officers from the Lincoln Park Police Department were pursuing a Honda Civic whose occupants were wanted for burglary.

The pursuit entered Wayne via Route 202.

Wayne Police Officer Spencer Schoonmaker observed the suspect vehicle contained multiple occupants and was being pursued by a single Lincoln Park officer.

The suspect vehicle lost control on the ramp from Route 23 South to Route 80 East.

Two males fled from the vehicle into a wooded area between the highways while the driver remained in the vehicle and continued onto Route 80 East with Lincoln Park Police in pursuit.

Officers from Wayne, Little Falls, Totowa, Cedar Grove, Fairfield and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office responded and established a perimeter.

Wayne Police Officer Fralvin Munoz and Sergeant Jon Donado deployed a police drone to search from the air.

Officer Schoonmaker and Wayne Officer Michael Sweeney heard branches breaking and followed the sounds to a stream where they found Jenkins hiding by a storm sewer.

Officer Munoz advised that the drone detected a heat signature in the area where Jenkins had been found.

Officers Schoonmaker and Sweeney returned to the woods and located Jeneo in an area densely covered in foliage and bamboo.

Both suspects were turned over to the Lincoln Park Police Department where they were charged with burglary and related offenses.
