STAMFORD, VT — A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon after colliding with a vehicle on Vermont Route 100 near Robillard Road.

Vermont State Police were dispatched to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 3:47 p.m.

The operator of the motorcycle, Conner Caron, 20, of North Adams, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation and witness statements indicate that a 2018 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Rita Bolognani, 66, of North Adams, Massachusetts, was preparing to enter Vermont Route 100 from a side road connecting Robillard Road and Vermont Route 100.

As Bolognani neared the edge of the roadway, Caron’s 2009 Triumph Street Triple struck the front driver’s side area of the Jeep before Caron was thrown from his motorcycle.

Based on witness statements, it appears speed was a factor in the crash.

Bolognani was not injured in the crash.

The motorcycle was totaled, and the Jeep sustained significant damage to the driver’s side front end.

Weather conditions at the time were partly cloudy with temperatures around 55 degrees, and road conditions were clear and dry.

Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Stamford Fire Department, Northern Berkshire EMS, Vermont Agency of Transportation, and Walt’s Towing.
