Man arrested on arson charge in Malone

MALONE, NY — A 37-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly setting fire to items near a victim’s residence in violation of an order of protection.

Adam G. Richardson, of Malone, was arrested Oct. 15 and charged with fifth-degree arson, first-degree criminal contempt and third-degree criminal mischief.

State Police responded to a report of criminal mischief on Lovers Lane Road in the town of Malone at approximately 10:33 a.m.

An investigation revealed Richardson had contacted the victim in violation of an existing order of protection that prohibited such contact.

Richardson intentionally took items from the victim and set them on fire near the victim’s residence, according to police.

A New York State Environmental Conservation Officer arrived at the scene to confirm the nature of the items being burned, which included clothing, household items and plastic.

Richardson received a citation from the DEC officer and was arrested by troopers.

He was transported to the State Police barracks in Malone for processing.

Richardson was arraigned in the Town of Malone and released on his own recognizance.
