Drug trafficking arrest made in Fairhaven

FAIRHAVEN, MA — A New Bedford man faces multiple drug trafficking charges following the execution of search warrants Wednesday.

Calixto Smith, 28, of New Bedford, was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine, 200 grams or more; distribution of Class B drug; trafficking in fentanyl, more than 10 grams; and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Fairhaven Police detectives, working with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the New Bedford Police Department, executed multiple search warrants on Oct. 15.

The warrants were obtained after a lengthy investigation into drug-related activity.

Detectives seized approximately 1.7 kilograms of cocaine, 11 grams of fentanyl, 265 suspected pressed fentanyl pills and $11,000 in cash during the warrant executions.
