HANSON — A 19-year-old woman was injured Wednesday morning after her vehicle crashed into a local pet store.
Hanson Police responded to the area of 968 West Washington St. at approximately 5:18 a.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a black Hyundai Elantra had struck the Hanson Grain & Pet Store.
The driver, a 19-year-old woman from Brockton, suffered injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening.
She was treated at the scene by the Hanson Fire Department and transported by ambulance to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was driving on West Washington Street (Route 14) when she left her lane, went off the road, and crashed into the business.
The crash appears to have caused structural damage to the building and damage to a gas line.
There was additional property damage to chicken coops and bags of merchandise.
Eversource Energy and Hanson’s building inspector responded to the scene to investigate.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to photograph and process the scene.
