UTICA — A 41-year-old woman with no known address faces multiple charges following two separate incidents in Utica.

Amber Beaton was arrested Oct. 10 at the Hannaford store on Mohawk Street after loss prevention associates reported she had returned to the store despite being previously banned.

Loss prevention staff detained Beaton until police arrived.

She was charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny and transported to the Utica Police Department.

Three days later, on Oct. 13 at approximately 7:30 a.m., police responded to the 1900 block of Dwyer Avenue for a report of a stolen vehicle.

A contractor reported his work truck was stolen while he was inside a location performing work.

An off-duty officer finishing his shift spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on Genesee Street and alerted on-duty officers.

The vehicle was located in a business plaza on Trenton Avenue.

Officers entered the only open business in the plaza and were told a woman had entered the men’s restroom and appeared to be hiding.

Officers had the woman exit the restroom.

She was holding the key fob to the stolen vehicle and was detained.

The woman was identified as Beaton.

She was transported to the Utica Police Department and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.
