WALLINGFORD — A 21-year-old Barton man sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision on Vermont Route 103 Monday morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:01 a.m. south of Roger Hill Road, according to Vermont State Police.
Michael Davis was driving a 2019 GMC Sierra northbound on Route 103 when he failed to navigate a right curve and crossed the centerline into the southbound lane.
Davis’ vehicle collided head-on with a southbound 1992 Peterbilt 377 operated by Martin Machain, 61, of Rutland.
Davis sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center before being transferred to UVM Medical Center.
Machain was not injured in the crash.
Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage.
Road conditions were wet and clear at the time of the crash, with cloudy, rainy weather reported.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said.
The Wallingford Fire Department, Mt. Holly Fire Department, Clarendon Fire Department and Wallingford Rescue assisted at the scene.
