COLONIE — A 44-year-old Albany woman has been charged with stabbing a man twice in the back at a Central Avenue motel early Saturday morning.
Ronita S. Roberts was arrested after Colonie police responded to a report of a stabbing at the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites at 1630 Central Avenue at approximately 2:22 a.m. on Oct. 11.
The male victim told responding officers that an unknown female suspect he had just met stabbed him twice in the back and fled the scene on foot.
The victim provided a description of the suspect and received medical aid.
He is expected to make a full recovery.
No motive for the attack was provided by the victim.
New York State Troopers later located Roberts walking on Central Avenue.
Roberts matched the description provided by the victim and was taken into custody.
Police determined that Roberts had stabbed the victim and abandoned the knife at the Days Inn Hotel at 1606 Central Avenue.
The Colonie Police Department recovered the weapon.
Roberts had an active arrest warrant from the Town of Colonie for failure to appear at the time of the incident.
Roberts was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; and failure to appear for a previous misdemeanor charge.
She was arraigned in Colonie Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility pending a preliminary hearing.
