Turner deputy shoots man after chase ends in crash

TURNER — An Androscoggin County deputy shot a man twice after the suspect pointed a gun at the officer following a vehicle chase that ended in a crash Oct. 10.

Deputy Kurt Fegan was attempting to locate Christopher Lebrun to arrest him on an outstanding felony warrant when he spotted Lebrun on Plains Road at 10:15 p.m.

Fegan attempted to stop Lebrun, but he failed to stop.

Fegan pursued Lebrun to the intersection of North Main Street and General Turner Hill Road where Lebrun crashed into a tree.

Fegan exited his vehicle to confront Lebrun as he exited his vehicle.

Lebrun pointed his gun at Fegan and was shot two times.

Lebrun was transported to Maine Medical Center where he is currently being treated for his injuries.

During the incident Fegan injured his knee and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment and later released.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office has criminal charges pending regarding Lebrun’s conduct.

The Office of the Attorney General will investigate the use of deadly force.

Fegan has been placed on administrative leave as is standard protocol when a police officer is involved in the use of deadly force.
