BENNINGTON — A 37-year-old Bennington man was cited for eluding police and negligent operation after leading Vermont State Police on a chase Oct. 10.
Michael T. Parker was driving on North Bennington Road when state police spotted him around 3:38 p.m.
State police were assisting Bennington Police Department in locating Parker regarding an earlier incident.
When troopers attempted to catch up to Parker to conduct a motor vehicle stop, he ran several red lights in an attempt to get away, police said.
Parker proceeded to travel west on Vermont Route 279, where state police caught up and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop.
Parker failed to yield to the emergency lights and sirens and continued to drive at normal speeds.
All attempts to stop the vehicle with emergency lights and sirens were ended shortly after.
Parker continued driving into New York State.
Parker was subsequently located and arrested by Bennington Police on other criminal charges later in the evening.
He was transported to Marble Valley Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
State police later issued Parker a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Nov. 17 at 8:30 a.m. for the charges of eluding and negligent operation.
