Wells River woman arrested on warrant, DUI charges

WELLS RIVER — Vermont State Police arrested a 37-year-old woman Oct. 10 on an outstanding warrant and new charges including driving under the influence.

Brigette Elliott was taken into custody following a traffic stop on US 302 and US 5 in Wells River.

State Police St. Johnsbury received a report from Grafton County New Hampshire dispatch that a person wanted in Vermont was driving intoxicated and traveling toward the Vermont border in Newbury.

Troopers located the vehicle in Wells River and conducted the traffic stop.

Elliott had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on previous charges of negligent operation and resisting arrest.

During the interaction, troopers detected indicators of alcohol impairment.

Elliott actively resisted arrest while being taken into custody, police said.

She was processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks and held on $200 bail at Northeast Correctional Complex.

Elliott faces charges of arrest on warrant for failure to appear, negligent operation, resisting arrest and DUI.
