NEW HEMPSTEAD — A 37-year-old woman was arrested on animal abuse charges after police found two dogs in poor physical condition tied outside without food, water or shelter.
A Ramapo Police Department officer discovered the dogs while investigating an unrelated matter in the Village of New Hempstead a few weeks ago.
The officer observed that the two dogs appeared to be in very poor physical condition and lacked basic necessities.
Police contacted the Hudson Valley Humane Society for assistance.
The Ramapo officer and a Ramapo Dog Control Officer removed the dogs and transported them to receive veterinary care.
The woman was later arrested and released with a future court date.
