UTICA — Three people were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop conducted by Utica Police Crime Prevention Unit officers on Oct. 8.
The stop occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Cornelia Place in connection with vehicle and traffic law violations and an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Officers observed three occupants in the vehicle and discovered several open containers of alcoholic beverages while speaking with the parties.
All three individuals were asked to exit the vehicle so officers could conduct a search.
During the search, officers initially found a loose white substance consistent with cocaine in the vehicle.
A continued search revealed an additional large quantity of suspected cocaine inside a bag in the cabin of the vehicle.
All three parties were detained and transported to the Utica Police Department.
At the station, a female officer searched the female occupant and located an additional quantity of suspected cocaine in her pocket.
An investigator with the Special Investigations Unit was called to handle charging due to the amount of contraband located.
Brian Stanistreet, 39, of Holland Patent, was charged with criminal possession of controlled substance in the fourth degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Brooke Edwards, 43, of Utica, was charged with criminal possession of controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Michael Williams, 29, of Utica, was charged with criminal possession of controlled substance in the fourth degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
