AURELIUS — A 40-year-old Aurelius man turned himself in on an arrest warrant charging him with attempted assault in the third degree following a July domestic violence incident.
Randy A. Smart was arrested at 9:24 a.m. Sept. 29 on the misdemeanor charge, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Deputies responded to a residence in Aurelius at approximately 5:44 p.m. July 19 for a reported domestic violence incident.
During the investigation, deputies discovered that Smart had pushed a family member down a small flight of stairs.
The family member sustained minor injuries.
Smart had fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Smart responded to the Sheriff’s Office and turned himself in on the warrant Sept. 29.
He was processed and turned over to Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment processing, where he was released on his own recognizance.
Smart appeared in Aurelius Town Court at 7:00 p.m. Oct. 8.
