CHELSEA — In the early morning hours of Wednesday, the Chelsea Police Department’s Narcotics/Gang Unit, working in collaboration with the DEA Task Force 2 and Metro North SWAT, executed two coordinated search warrants at 100 Stockton Street, Unit 448, and 944 Broadway, Apartment 4 in Chelsea.
The operation stemmed from an ongoing investigation that led to probable cause for detectives to seek search warrants for the distribution of crack cocaine by Anthony Burt, age 33, of 100 Stockton Street, and Julia Scalia, age 50, of 944 Broadway.
Chelsea Detectives sought the assistance of Metro North SWAT based on the information developed during the investigation.
At approximately 6 a.m., SWAT teams simultaneously entered both addresses.
At 100 Stockton Street, five individuals were detained, including Burt.
Two others, Joshua Sullivan, age 45, of 1 Webster Ave, Chelsea, and Scott McDonald, age 42, of Salem, were both arrested on active warrants.
A search of the apartment yielded several items of evidentiary value, including multiple digital scales, packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia.
Evidence suggested attempts to destroy narcotics in the bathroom before police entry.
Burt was charged with possession of a Class B drug and possession of a Class E drug under MGL Chapter 94C §34.
At 944 Broadway, two individuals were detained: Scalia and William Linscott, age 51, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
A search resulted in the discovery of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine in multiple containers.
Scalia was charged with possession of a Class B drug.
All evidence was secured in accordance with department policy and will be submitted to the Massachusetts State Police Drug Lab for testing.
The operation concluded without injury to officers or civilians.
All cases will be prosecuted through the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
