Fire destroys Avon home, kills 15 pets

AVON — Maine State Fire Marshal investigators are looking into a fire that destroyed a log cabin Tuesday night.

Local firefighters responded to the blaze at 461 Square Mile Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. Oct. 7.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire.

No one was injured.

Eleven dogs and four cats were inside the home when the fire occurred.

None of the animals survived.

Investigators from the Office of State Fire Marshal were called to the scene.

Due to the extent of the damage, the cause of the fire could not be determined.
