1 min read

EAST LYME — A 25-year-old Coventry man was arrested Tuesday on charges of operating a fraudulent limousine service that advertised on Facebook and took advance payments from customers.

Mitch Kloter was charged with telephone fraud and operating a livery service without a permit after an East Lyme resident reported being scammed in July.

The victim found an advertisement for a limousine service on Facebook and called the posted phone number to arrange transportation from their home to an airport, according to East Lyme police.

The resident paid in advance for the service, but the limousine never arrived on the scheduled day.

After several unsuccessful attempts to obtain a refund, the victim reported the incident to East Lyme police.

Police determined that Kloter was operating a limousine company without the required permit and was scamming customers who paid in advance.

Kloter was arrested by warrant and released after posting bond.
